London-based health and nutrition startup ZOE has secured €13.8 million ($15 million) in funding from Coefficient Capital, a New York-based investor in consumer businesses. The new capital will support the firm’s mission to improve health across the United States by expanding its innovative services and reaching a wider audience.
Jonathan Wolf, Co-Founder and CEO highlighted the severe health challenges facing the US, such as high rates of chronic conditions, childhood obesity, and the prevalence of ultra-processed foods. “Coefficient Capital approached us because they believe we have the potential to improve America’s health,” Wolf said. He emphasized the importance of this investment in growing ZOE’s US business.
Founded in 2017 by Tim Spector, Jonathan Wolf, and George Hadjigeorgiou, ZOE focuses on providing personalized dietary guidance through extensive research. The company aims to reverse alarming health trends by promoting smarter food choices backed by science.
How It Works
ZOE offers at-home testing kits to analyze blood fat, blood sugar, and gut health. The company provides personalized dietary recommendations based on these tests, helping users make better food choices. The approach includes scoring foods from 0 to 100, suggesting healthier alternatives, and tracking progress with ongoing gut microbiome tests.
The service includes support from nutrition science coaches who help users achieve their health goals. ZOE’s program is currently available to residents of the continental United States and Hawaii, with early access in the UK.
Subscription Plans
The UK-based company offers a comprehensive testing and membership package. The test kit costs $294 or $49 per month for six months, covering various tests and reports. Membership plans, which provide personalized insights and health habit guidance, range from $29 to $59 per month, depending on the payment plan.
With this new funding, the startup is set to enhance its impact on public health in the US, driving growth and innovation in personalized nutrition and health services.
