Toronto-based AI startup Workorb has raised $2.6 million CAD in seed funding to advance its automation tools for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector.
The funding round, led by Metavallon Ventures and with participation from Freedom of Innovation Ventures, aims to refine Workorb’s technology to tackle non-billable administrative tasks such as proposal drafting, compliance management, and data processing.
Innovative Data Solutions for AEC
The startup was co-founded by Nick Koudas and Nilesh Bansal, who bring extensive experience in AI and data analytics from previous ventures Sysomos and Aislelabs. Their platform leverages AI to analyze documents, drawings, and designs, transforming unstructured data into organized information that’s ready for business use. Currently, leading firms in the AEC sector utilize Workorb’s tools for efficient management of proposals and business development processes.
Driving AEC’s Digital Transformation
Koudas and Bansal noted that the AEC industry has traditionally struggled with adopting digital technologies due to complex workflows and high accuracy requirements. Workorb’s platform addresses this by automating data organization, improving productivity, and facilitating AI adoption within the sector. The founders aim to make 2025 a pivotal year by expanding business development and refining the product with insights from design partners.
Koudas highlighted that the support from investors like Metavallon Ventures and Freedom of Innovation Ventures reinforces the company’s potential to drive transformative change in the AEC industry.
