Ver.iD, an Amsterdam-based SaaS platform specializing in digital identity verification, has raised €2 million in an angel funding round.

The startup plans to launch a €4 million funding round to accelerate its European expansion. This recent funding came from a group of prominent angel investors.

Aligning with eIDAS 2.0 Regulation

Ver.iD’s platform is designed to comply with eIDAS 2.0, a European regulation mandating public and private organizations to integrate digital identity solutions by 2026. This regulation applies to industries such as banking, energy, and insurance.

Robert van Altena, Co-Founder explained:
“In an era dominated by AI-driven fraud and data breaches, Ver.iD ensures organizations only receive the necessary customer data. This enhances privacy while streamlining onboarding and verification processes to be faster, safer, and user-friendly.”

Simplifying Identity Verification

Ver.iD provides a scalable platform that enables companies to integrate ID wallets and digital identification methods, allowing users to choose their preferred identity app. The platform addresses various applications, including:

  • Simplifying car insurance applications for Verbond van Verzekeraars and Nationale Nederlanden.
  • Improving digital onboarding for the Municipality of Nijmegen.
  • Assisting 200 accounting firms in meeting compliance requirements via Compliance Wise.

Ver.iD is also piloting a project with the Chamber of Commerce to provide executives access to authorization data through ID wallets.

Founding Vision

Established in 2021 by Robert van Altena, Sten Reijers, and Roger Olivieira, Ver.iD aims to replace inefficient, paper-based verification processes with a secure, user-friendly platform. The solution emphasizes:

  • Data privacy by not storing customer data.
  • User control over shared information.
  • Compliance with high-security standards to prevent data breaches.

Van Altena added:
“We are proud of the trust our investors and clients have placed in us. Our goal is to become an international market leader and set the standard for digital identity in Europe.”

With its focus on enhancing security and user experience, Ver.iD is poised to play a significant role in the European digital identity landscape.
