The Copenhagen-based The Footprint Firm has successfully launched its first fund, The Footprint Fund I, closing its initial round at €50.2 million. This new fund focuses on supporting climate-positive innovations and sustainable solutions across various sectors.
The Footprint Fund I will target investments in six key areas crucial for sustainability: energy, food and agriculture, sustainable construction, climate technologies, bio-solutions, and circular economy ventures. The fund is poised to invest between €0.5 million to €2 million in each venture, prioritizing early-stage startups and scale-ups at the pre-seed and seed stages.

The fund is classified as an Article 9 ‘dark green’ fund, which means it adheres to the highest standards of sustainability, focusing on investments that have a substantial positive impact on the environment. This designation underscores The Footprint Firm’s commitment to contributing to the green transition in a significant way.
Broad Support from Investors
The funding for this initiative came from a mix of new and existing supporters, including the North-East Family Office, Realdania, Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker, and S.Rishøj Holding. These investors share a common vision of a sustainable future and support the fund’s mission to make impactful investments.

Since its inception five years ago, The Footprint Firm has been an active, hands-on investor, partnering with ambitious startups that are based on scalable business models and focused on accelerating the green transition. To date, the company has made over 20 investments, and with this new fund, it plans to broaden its impact and continue working with innovative companies.
