Taylor, a high-tech electronics producer for solar panels based in Eindhoven, has announced securing €8M in a new funding round. This investment will be utilized for product development and expanding the team both domestically and internationally.

CEO Michiel Roelofs of Taylor shared that the company has made significant progress, with the first contracts in Belgium and France and plans to soon expand to Germany. This expansion underlines the startup’s growing influence in the European solar energy market.

Investors Supporting Taylor

The investment was contributed by new investor Pension Fund ABP, alongside existing investors Rubio Impact Ventures and Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM). Jeroen Schreur, responsible for the ABP Dutch Energy Transition Fund (ANET) at APG, emphasized ABP’s commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy in the Netherlands, including investing in companies with innovative solutions for efficient energy generation, storage, and consumption.

Making Solar Systems More Efficient

Founded in 2017 as a spin-off from Eindhoven University of Technology, Taylor claims to be a leading player in the field of solar energy. The company has shipped over 45,000 products, attributed to its cell string optimizer technology. This innovation optimizes individual cell strings in solar panels, boosting output by up to 20 percent, providing better performance insights, and enhancing panel safety.

The Offerings

The Startup provides electronics to solar module manufacturers and supplies gateways and software to solar system installers. With local pre- and aftersales service teams, Taylor extends support to installers, offering roof-owners the next generation in solar technology; generating more power from their roof while offering real-time insight into their solar system.

CEO’s Vision for the Future

CEO Michiel Roelofs expressed pride in having one of the world’s largest pension funds backing the company. He highlighted the team’s performance and the trust customers have in them, stating, “The foundation has been laid; now we start building.”
