Solaq, an Amsterdam-based startup specializing in sustainable Air-to-Water technology, has raised €1.4 million in pre-seed funding from Connect the Drops and the Netherlands Enabling Watertechnology Fund, with additional support from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Province of Noord-Holland.

The funding will support a pilot program in Brazil, targeting remote areas that currently rely on trucked-in, unreliable water sources. Solaq’s system is expected to produce over 2,000 liters per day during the dry season, supplying clean water to over 40 households.

Revolutionary Air-to-Water Technology

Founded in 2023 by Reuben Moore, Evert van Voorthuysen, and Peter Solleveld, the startup’s innovative system extracts water from the air using solar power. Unlike traditional methods, it uses heat instead of electricity, making it cost-effective and operational even in arid regions. The system operates independently without infrastructure or grid access, offers remote monitoring, and ensures round-the-clock water production. The company’s technology produces pure drinking water without toxic materials and zero waste, creating a sustainable solution for water purification.

Tackling Water Scarcity Worldwide

Focused on addressing global water scarcity, Solaq aims to expand its technology for various applications, from remote communities and emergency relief to agriculture and military use. With a team of around ten, Solaq is scaling operations to deliver clean water solutions to underserved areas globally, with plans for a broader rollout by 2026.
