Soil Capital from Belgium secures €15M in Series B to drive Regenerative Agriculture

Perwez-based Soil Capital, a Belgian B-Corp specializing in regenerative agriculture, has raised €15 million in a Series B funding round led by Trill Impact Ventures. Other investors include Société Fédérale de Participations et d’Investissement (SFPIM), Sandwater, Santander Alternative Investments, as well as existing backers like Ring Capital and Edaphon.

Soil Capital aims to transform 1 million hectares of farmland to regenerative agriculture practices by 2025. The funding will be used to scale its operations, enhance its data platform, and provide more agronomic support to farmers. The company’s efforts are centered on helping farmers adopt sustainable practices that improve soil health, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote biodiversity.

Impact on Global Food Systems

With over 1,600 farmers already participating in its program across France, Belgium, and the UK, Soil Capital is rapidly expanding. The company paid €2.4 million to eco-friendly farmers in the first quarter of 2024, doubling its reach from the previous year. Soil Capital’s system certifies carbon reductions, helping food companies reduce their scope 3 emissions, which are generated indirectly through their supply chains.

Trill Impact Ventures highlighted Soil Capital’s ability to meet the growing demand for low-carbon, resilient food systems. Investors believe the company is uniquely positioned to lead the transition to regenerative agriculture, benefiting both the environment and the farming community.
