Berlin’s Recare, a SaaS platform dedicated to optimizing patient transfers from hospitals to subsequent care providers, has successfully secured €3.2M in funding. This investment aims to bolster the company’s digital discharge management marketplace within Germany, enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the healthcare system.

The funding round saw contributions from existing investors and a significant €2M loan from Gilion, a firm recognized for assisting tech companies in securing funding and forecasting growth.

Mariam Koorang, Gilion’s GM for Germany, lauded Recare for its impactful platform, noting, “Recare has created a compelling and easy-to-use platform in a complex and regulated environment – marrying great technical ability and first-hand industry expertise.” She emphasized the company’s role in digitizing Germany’s health sector and its consistent growth trajectory.

Simplifying Discharge Management

Founded in 2017 by Maximilian Greschke, Recare aims to revolutionize how hospitals manage patient discharges, leveraging technology to save time and resources. This allows healthcare professionals to concentrate more on patient care rather than administrative tasks. The firm’s search tool facilitates direct and secure communication between hospitals and care providers, streamlining the discharge process and improving outcomes for all parties involved.

Greschke expressed his motivation for founding Recare, stating, “We refuse the status quo of the healthcare system in Germany, or even Europe, where filling, scanning, and faxing dozens of forms every single day for patients is still the norm.” He believes that technology can make healthcare processes faster and more secure, allowing professionals to focus on patient care rather than paperwork.

Expanding the Digital Marketplace

Since acquiring Pflegeplatzmanager GmbH in 2023, Recare’s digital marketplace has grown to include 700 acute hospitals, 650 rehabilitation clinics, and 24,000 additional service providers offering care and medical supplies for home care. This expansion underscores Recare’s commitment to enhancing the healthcare ecosystem through digital solutions.

Future Developments and Digital Transformation

The newly acquired funds will enable the company to further develop its digital discharge management solutions, meeting a critical need in the digital transformation of Germany’s healthcare system. The Hospital Future Act (Krankenhauszukunftsgesetz/KHZG) mandates hospitals to digitize and improve efficiency, positioning Recare’s solutions as essential for meeting these requirements.

With this investment, the startup plans to introduce its innovative solutions to more healthcare providers, supporting the sector’s evolving needs and contributing to a more efficient and patient-centered healthcare system in Germany.
