Germany-based Reactive Robotics, a healthcare startup specializing in AI and robot-assisted mobilisation, has raised an additional €5 million in funding. The investment was led by Dr. Doll, TQ-Group, Henrik Schunk, Stephan Huber, and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund. This follows a €2.5 million grant from the EIC in 2023 aimed at furthering R&D efforts.

Founded in 2015, Reactive Robotics is transforming healthcare with its assistive robotic system, VEMOTION, which has already mobilised over 5,000 critically ill patients in intensive care. The system helps speed up recovery while reducing the physical strain on nursing and therapy staff, particularly when handling patients up to 180 kg. VEMOTION addresses the growing problem of staff shortages in hospitals by easing workloads and supporting patient care management.

Expanding Global Reach and Technology

The newly secured funds will help the startup enhance the development of its VEMOTION system, further integrating AI to support caregivers, therapists, and physicians. The company also plans to accelerate its national and international expansion, bringing its technology to more hospitals globally.

Investors See Potential in Healthcare Robotics

Dr. Theo Doll praised Reactive Robotics’ potential to revolutionize the healthcare industry with its innovative technology, while CEO Brigitte Schrätzenstaller emphasized that this funding will enable the startup to realize its vision of improving patient care and reducing staff burdens. The company aims to continue leveraging data-driven insights to support patient care as the number of cases increases.
