New York-based Patlytics, an AI-driven patent analytics platform, has raised $14 million in Series A funding to scale its intellectual property (IP) research and litigation tools.

The round was led by Next47, with participation from Google’s Gradient, 8VC, Alumni Ventures, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Myriad Venture Partners. This latest investment brings Patlytics’ total funding to $21 million—just nine months after its April 2024 seed round.

AI-Powered Patent Intelligence

Patlytics is transforming IP discovery, litigation, and portfolio management with its large language model (LLM)-powered AI. The platform enables:

  • Automated patent research and technical discovery
  • AI-driven patent application drafting
  • Infringement detection and invalidity analysis
  • Real-time claim chart generation for litigation and licensing

CEO Paul Lee, a former venture capitalist, and CTO Arthur Jen, a patent strategist, co-founded the startup in January 2024. Jen, who previously led IP at crypto wallet company Magic, saw firsthand how manual and outdated patent workflows slowed legal teams.

“AI is revolutionizing legal tech, and patent professionals are demanding better tools,” said Lee. “Our platform eliminates inefficiencies, allowing IP teams to focus on high-value work.”

Exponential Growth & Global Expansion

In just six months, Patlytics has seen:

  • 20x increase in annual recurring revenue (ARR)
  • 18x customer base expansion
  • 300% month-over-month growth

The company serves a mix of law firms and corporate clients from industries including semiconductors, biotech, and pharmaceuticals. Early adopters include Google, Xerox, Koch Disruptive Technologies, Quinn Emanuel, and Abnormal Security.

Patlytics has also expanded internationally, launching operations in South Korea, Japan, London, and Germany.

Scaling AI for the Future of Patent Law

With its Series A funding, Patlytics will:

  • Expand its engineering team to enhance AI capabilities
  • Develop new modules for IP professionals
  • Scale sales and enterprise adoption

Industry experts see Patlytics as a game-changer. Advisory board member Bob Steinberg, chair of Latham & Watkins’ Patent Trial and Appeal Board Practice, stated:
“Patlytics’ AI dramatically reduces the time and cost of patent litigation, giving companies a strategic advantage.”

With AI disrupting legal tech, the startup is positioning itself as a leader in automated patent intelligence, offering faster, more cost-effective solutions for global IP management.
