Latvia-based defence tech startup Origin Robotics has raised €4 million in pre-seed funding to accelerate the development of its autonomous, reusable drones.
The round included €2.4 million in venture capital from Change Ventures and Silicon Roundabout Ventures, with an additional €1.6 million in grants from the EU and the Latvian Ministry of Defence.
Advancing Autonomous Defence Technology
With this capital, Origin Robotics will fast-track the production of its flagship BEAK drone, a portable ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) system. The BEAK drone offers high-precision capabilities with cost-efficiency, making it a competitive option for defence organizations and government agencies. Funds will also support team expansion and drive new innovations in precision-guided technology as the company prepares for its first commercial agreements.
Building a Strategic Defence Ecosystem
Founded in 2022 by Agris Kipurs and Ilja Nevdah, Origin Robotics combines decades of experience in unmanned aerial systems with a mission to create affordable, rapid-deployment solutions for modern defence. The company is a founding member of Latvia’s Military Technology, Drone, and Robotics Association, led by former Defence Minister Dr. Artis Pabriks, and is part of the UK-Latvia Drone Coalition, uniting 16 NATO nations to drive defence-focused drone advancements.
