Berlin-based automation startup n8n has secured $60 million in Series B funding to accelerate the growth of its AI-enhanced workflow automation platform.

The round was led by Highland Europe, with participation from HV Capital, Sequoia, Felicis, and Harpoon. The company is now valued at around $270 million.

From Low-Code Automation to AI-Powered Workflows

Founded in 2019, n8n (pronounced “en-ay-ten”) began as a low-code/no-code tool enabling developers to automate workflows between apps. Its open-source foundation and “fair-code” licensing model — which encourages contributions while enabling commercial use — earned it wide adoption in the developer community, with over 70,000 GitHub stars.

But the real breakthrough came in 2022, when the company integrated generative AI into its platform. This pivot allowed users to build workflows using natural language prompts, simplifying automation and accelerating adoption.

“You no longer need to write 50 lines of code to build an integration,” said founder and CEO Jan Oberhauser. “Just describe the task in plain English, and AI handles the rest.”

Fast Growth and Global Adoption

Since making AI central to its offering, n8n has seen rapid growth:

  • Revenue increased 5x, doubling again in the last two months.
  • Over 3,000 enterprise customers and 200,000+ active users now use the platform.
  • More than half of its user base is in the U.S., where the company is expanding its presence.

Community-Driven Expansion

n8n’s developer ecosystem continues to thrive, with contributors building workflow templates and supporting one another across forums and GitHub. The platform now includes pre-built AI workflows and integrates with multiple large language models (LLMs).

What’s Next

With this funding, n8n plans to:

  • Scale operations in the U.S. and globally
  • Invest in AI and LLM integrations
  • Hire across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams

Highland Europe’s David Blyghton, who led the round, praised n8n’s practical use of AI:

“Everyone is talking about AI, but n8n is delivering real value. Its design and flexibility are what make widespread adoption possible.”

With its blend of open-source ethos, AI-driven automation, and strong community roots, the company is poised to become a major player in the future of developer-centric enterprise automation.
