Poland-based bus manufacturer MMI has raised €7.7 million in a funding round led by Vinci SA. The investment will support MMI’s mission to develop a range of electric buses, including low-entry, low-floor, and normal-floor models, as well as a hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric minibus. Vinci SA, managed by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, focuses on promoting new technologies and patents within Poland and expanding them globally.
MMI’s latest funding will be used to enhance its zero-emission drive technology, improve chassis and body construction, and strengthen its market position in Poland and Western Europe. The company is also planning to build a modern production facility, aiming to double its vehicle production capacity. MMI’s CEO, Stanisław Zdrojewski, emphasized the importance of creating buses with the lowest possible curb weight to maximize range, utilizing composite technology for a lighter, more efficient build.

Pioneering Innovations in the Bus Industry
Founded as a family-owned company with over 70 employees, the company is transitioning to produce zero-emission vehicles to address the challenges faced by electric and hybrid buses in smaller cities and rural areas. The company plans to develop a new drivetrain system that integrates synchronous motors directly into the wheel hubs, simplifying power transmission and improving efficiency.
Expanding Market Presence
With a threefold increase in financial performance last year, the startup is on track to offer a full range of minibuses within three years, aligning with European market needs and expanding its operations across Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Scandinavia. Vinci SA’s CEO, Piotr Woliński, highlighted MMI’s alignment with EU regulations on zero-emission urban transport, positioning the company to compete strongly in the international market.
