Distance Technologies, a Finnish startup specializing in glasses-free mixed reality technology, has raised €10 million in seed funding.
The round was led by GV (Google Ventures), with participation from FOV Ventures and Maki.vc. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of Distance’s mixed reality solutions, targeting sectors like automotive, aerospace, and defense.
Transforming Transparent Surfaces into Mixed Reality Portals
Distance Technologies has developed a breakthrough solution that converts transparent surfaces, such as windshields and windows, into immersive mixed reality experiences without the need for headsets or glasses. The technology uses a computer-generated 3D light field, allowing for infinite per-pixel depth and full-field immersion, enhancing clarity and reducing eye strain.
Industry Applications and Future Expansion
The startup’s innovative technology is being explored by next-generation automotive manufacturers, defense contractors, and aviation companies. It enhances situational awareness by overlaying dynamic data, such as location-specific information, into real-world environments. The finnish company aims to continue scaling its solution for global adoption and bring mixed reality experiences to everyday applications.
