Berlin-based Caeli Wind, a platform dedicated to assessing and promoting wind energy locations, has successfully raised €11 million in a Series A funding round.
The investment was led by UK-based VC fund Notion Capital, with participation from Santander Alternative Investments and existing investor HTGF.
Klaus Lehmann, Partner at HTGF, expressed confidence in Caeli Wind’s potential, stating, “We invested in Caeli in 2023 because we recognized the company’s potential to revolutionize the energy market. Their impressive development since then justifies our increased investment in this flagship German company.”
Caeli Wind has attracted international investors due to its successful market development in Germany. The company’s online marketplace connects landowners with suitable locations for wind power projects, streamlining the process of wind farm development.
Technological Innovation and Efficiency
Founded in 2022 by Ben Schlemmermeier and Heiko Bartels, Caeli Wind uses an advanced AI-driven analysis system to speed up the growth of wind turbines. In 2023 alone, the company identified 173 new sites for wind turbines across Germany, reducing setup time by an average of 18 months thanks to its digital analysis and awarding platform.
Schlemmermeier highlighted the benefits of their technology, saying, “Our platform has proven that complex planning and approval processes can be shortened significantly. The newly raised capital will enable us to further assist project developers in conserving resources and accelerating their operations.”
Future Expansion and Development
The funding will fuel Caeli Wind’s international expansion, allowing the company to enhance its value chain and refine its advanced technologies. Co-founders Schlemmermeier and Bartels are optimistic about the future, stating, “We are thrilled with this new financing round. Caeli is becoming a catalyst for the energy transition, which has always been our goal.”
Support from Investors
Stephen Chandler, Managing Partner at Notion Capital, praised Caeli Wind’s innovative approach, “Caeli Wind’s platform represents a significant leap in modernizing a crucial segment of the wind energy value chain. The founders’ deep domain expertise positions them uniquely to build a global leader in the wind energy market, thereby accelerating the renewable energy transition.”
Santiago Gil, Lead of Santander InnoEnergy Climate Fund, emphasized Santander’s commitment to supporting companies that contribute to decarbonization, “Santander is one of the world’s largest financiers of renewables. We are pleased to support Caeli Wind with both capital and expertise as they expand internationally.”
