San Francisco-based Archipelo, a cybersecurity startup focused on securing both AI-generated and human-written code, has emerged from stealth with $12 million in funding.

The round includes an unannounced $4M pre-seed and an $8M seed round, led by Dell Technologies Capital, with participation from Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, Andy Bechtolsheim, Bill Tai, Samsung NEXT, and others.

AI-Driven Developer Security Posture Management

Archipelo’s platform introduces Developer Security Posture Management (DevSPM)—a new approach to monitoring and securing code written by both developers and AI tools. Unlike existing security solutions, Archipelo focuses on real-time developer oversight, identifying security vulnerabilities before they reach production.

CEO Matthew Wise explained:
“Every enterprise recognizes the productivity gains from AI-assisted coding, but they lack visibility into its security risks. We built a platform that continuously monitors human and AI-driven coding to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.”s were missed by medical staff, prompting her to create a more holistic, patient-centered maternity clinic.

Solving AI-Generated Code Security Risks

With AI-generated code becoming more prevalent, the risks of undetected security flaws have increased. Studies show that 74% of security breaches result from human error, and AI-generated code adds another layer of complexity. The startup helps enterprises:

  • Monitor all AI-assisted coding activity
  • Identify security flaws in real-time
  • Mitigate risks before code reaches deployment

Market Position & Competitors

Archipelo enters the growing cloud-to-code security market, competing with companies like Palo Alto Networks (Prisma Cloud), Wiz, Microsoft Defender, GitHub, GitLab, Snyk, and Veracode. However, unlike these solutions, Archipelo’s AI-driven approach specifically tracks AI coding tools and AI-generated vulnerabilities—a gap in the market.

Growing Enterprise Adoption

Archipelo is already working with Fortune 500 clients across banking, healthcare, and defense, though their names remain undisclosed.

With $12M in fresh capital, Archipelo aims to expand its AI-powered security platform, ensuring enterprises can embrace AI-assisted development without compromising security.
