Copenhagen-based Agrobiomics, a leading agtech company, has successfully raised €4 million in funding from NOON Ventures to introduce Fortify, a potent abiotic stress protectant for plants. This innovative solution aims to improve climate resilience in agriculture, potentially reducing CO2 emissions by over 100 million tons annually and preserving up to €90 billion worth of food.
Agrobiomics was founded in 2022 to address the pressing issues of climate change, geopolitical instability, and the rising cost of crop inputs that threaten global food security. According to the USDA, drought and salinity stress are diminishing arable land and reducing farming yields, with annual losses estimated at €90 billion. By 2050, 75% of the global population is expected to be affected by drought.
Agrobiomics’ product Fortify is designed to enhance plant resilience against drought and salinity using nature-derived technology that requires an unprecedentedly low dose per hectare. This technology helps farmers grow food more sustainably, reliably, and profitably.
Expanding Global Reach
The new funding will enable Agrobiomics to expand trials of Fortify across a variety of crops, including soy, corn, and tomatoes, in regions such as Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. CEO Ejner Bech Jensen expressed gratitude for the support: “We appreciate the trust NOON Ventures and BII have shown in Agrobiomics and our technology. Their experience in building companies and partnerships will be invaluable as we scale our operations.”
Jensen added, “In the past two years, our team has built Agrobiomics from scratch, validated the IP with strong field results, and attracted significant partnerships. This funding puts us on track to help farmers tackle challenges like drought and salinity, contributing to a significant CO2 reduction and potentially enabling soil reclamation.”
Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture
Agrobiomics aims to lead in the BioAg sector, providing biological solutions for both abiotic and biotic stress. The company aspires to replace traditional pesticides with natural, stable Streptomyces metabolites. With the backing of NOON Ventures, Agrobiomics is poised to complete product development, upscale production, and launch Fortify across major markets.
