Barcelona-based Union Avatars is a startup company working to develop characters for the metaverse. They recently received $1.2 million in funding to provide companies and individuals with tools for managing their digital identities. With this funding, Union Avatars aims to blur the lines between reality and the virtual world.
Inveready and Fi Group’s round of funding was led by GoHub Ventures, Outlier Ventures, Inlea, Rat Gasol and Carlos Solana. The new money will be used for product development and expanding internationally.
The company aims to help shape the virtual identity of the metaverse. It was started in 2020 by Cai Felip and Jordi Conejero. Their company offers avatar solutions so users can have a digital representation in video games, social networks, VR worlds, or gamification.
Union Avatars CEO Cai Felip stated that his company is integrating avatars from the metaverse into blockchain technology. This change allows anybody to use their avatar as a passpost to any virtual world, according to Felip. He said, “The big change is to have an avatar that is like a passport to any metaverse and this is possible thanks to this new integration that we are doing with Web3.”
UnionID is the name of a digital identity system. According to the company, it will be a secure identification card with absolute control over privacy. UnionID will allow users to log into different platforms without sharing data, and they’ll be able to take their digital assets with them between platforms.
