Toronto-based Augmenta, an AI-powered construction technology startup, has raised $14.4 million CAD ($10M USD) in seed funding to enhance its AI-driven building design software.

The round was led by Prelude Ventures, with participation from Montage Ventures and existing investors. This latest funding brings Augmenta’s total investment to nearly $37 million CAD.

Revolutionizing Building Design with AI

Founded in 2018 by former Autodesk engineers, Augmenta’s platform automates electrical system design, helping contractors and engineers generate detailed, compliant building plans in hours instead of weeks. The AI-driven solution:

  • Reduces design errors and rework.
  • Optimizes costs and sustainability.
  • Speeds up project completion for hospitals, schools, labs, and other facilities.

CEO Francesco Iorio highlighted the need for automation in the slow-to-adopt construction industry, stating:
“We are now seeing fully realized projects using our technology, marking a turning point for AI in construction.

Scaling Beyond Electrical Design

With this funding, the company aims to:

  • Refine its AI-powered electrical design agent.
  • Expand into mechanical and plumbing system automation.
  • Grow its team by 10-15 employees by the end of 2025.

A Step Toward Fully AI-Generated Building Plans

Prelude Ventures Managing Director Matt Eggers emphasized Augmenta’s disruptive potential:
“We believe Augmenta’s generative AI will seamlessly integrate into current design workflows, significantly reducing time, cost, and material waste.”

With $14.4M CAD in new funding, the startup is one step closer to automating entire building designs, making AI a central force in modern construction.
