Brussels-based Fyteko, an agritech startup specializing in bio-based agricultural solutions, has raised €13 million in Series B funding to expand its sustainable biosolutions for climate-smart farming.
The round was led by Crédit Mutuel Impact, with participation from SFPIM, Supernova Invest, IMBC, finance&invest.brussels, EIT Food, and the Innovation Fund.
Advancing Sustainable Farming with Biomolecules
Founded in 2014 by Guillaume Wegria and Dr. Juan Carlos Cabrera, Fyteko has developed biostimulants, herbicide enhancers, and biopesticides using its patented enzymatic synthesis technology. These biosourced molecules help farmers:
- Enhance crop resilience to climate stress
- Increase yields while reducing chemical input reliance
- Adapt to droughts, temperature extremes, and erratic rainfall
Over the past year, Fyteko has:
- Filed six patent families
- Conducted 500+ field trials
- Treated over 500,000 hectares with its solutions
The company participated in the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, conducting trials across eight European countries before launching its products across Europe in 2023.
The Key Products
- Nurspray – A foliar biostimulant that improves drought tolerance and works within 24 hours.
- Nurseed – A seed treatment promoting early seedling growth in stress conditions.
- Nursoil – A soil-drench biostimulant that activates plants’ natural defense mechanisms.
These solutions optimize land use, improve sustainability, and reduce the environmental impact of modern farming.
Scaling Up for Global Impact
With its latest funding, Fyteko plans to:
- Scale production and expand market reach across Europe
- Accelerate R&D efforts for next-gen bio-based solutions
- Support global efforts in transitioning to climate-resilient agriculture
Fyteko’s vision: “A future where farmers can feed a growing population using safe and sustainable inputs.”
With strong investor backing and cutting-edge technology, the startup is leading the charge in next-generation agriculture, helping farms worldwide adapt to climate change while maintaining productivity.
