Danish agritech startup FarmDroid, known for its autonomous, solar-powered field robots, has raised €10.5 million to scale its global operations.
The funding round was led by Convent Capital, with participation from EIFO and Navus Ventures. The fresh capital will help FarmDroid expand its reach into both organic and conventional farming markets, offering sustainable and cost-effective solutions for modern agriculture.
Driving Eco-Friendly Farming with Innovative Technology
Founded by brothers Jens and Kristian Warming, FarmDroid offers a solar-powered autonomous robot, the FD20, designed to handle seeding and precision weed control. With its integrated solar panels, the FD20 operates CO2-neutrally, running continuously without external charging. The robot also features spot-spraying technology, allowing it to reduce pesticide use by up to 100% in conventional farming.
Sustainability and Efficiency at the Core
The startup’s technology addresses critical challenges in agriculture by reducing the need for chemicals, minimizing labor dependency, and lowering operational costs. With over 500 units sold across more than 20 countries, the company’s robots have gained popularity, particularly in organic farming, for their eco-friendly approach to weed control.
CEO René Jannick Jørgensen stated that the new investment will strengthen FarmDroid’s market position, allowing the company to scale its operations and continue promoting sustainable agricultural solutions globally. The company now aims to double its installed base of robots, targeting 1,000 units in the near future.
