Prague-based Zerops, a spinoff from hosting provider VSHosting, has secured €466K ($500K) in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Presto Ventures and Gi21 Capital.
Zerops, founded by Ales Rechtorik and Jan Saidl in 2017, offers a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) designed specifically for developers. The platform aims to simplify the process of building, deploying, running, and managing applications of any scale or complexity. Rechtorik, CEO and co-founder, emphasized, “Zerops is built by developers for developers. Our core vision is to make developers’ lives easier by providing them with robust tools to streamline their work.”
Strategic Partnerships and Technological Advancements
Through its strategic partnership with VSHosting’s global parent, Contabo Group, Zerops benefits from extensive managed services expertise and a global infrastructure. This collaboration enables Zerops to offer a comprehensive PaaS solution, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency across both production and non-production environments.
Key Features and Benefits
Zerops integrates best development practices and offers a range of features that enhance the development process:
- Fine-Grained Resource Configuration and Auto-Scaling: Ensures optimal resource allocation, avoiding overprovisioning and performance issues.
- Custom Project Infrastructure: Efficiently handles large-scale production needs while remaining affordable for non-production setups.
- Developer-Friendly Pricing Model: Encourages multiple environments per developer without additional fees, offering pricing that is generally 2-3 times lower than competitors.
- Transparent Managed Services: Provides clear and transparent managed services, avoiding the black-box approach and minimizing vendor lock-in.
Utilization of Funds
The newly secured funds will be used to integrate top frameworks and open-source software, expand documentation and knowledge resources, enhance onboarding procedures, and increase market presence for global expansion.
Premysl Rubes, Founder and Managing Partner of Presto Ventures, highlighted the shift in the developer community: “Developers are moving away from market leaders like Heroku in favor of more innovative and flexible solutions. Zerops, with its robust platform and strong developer interest, is well-positioned to capture this market shift.”
With this investment, the startup is set to expand its team and accelerate its mission to provide developers with powerful, easy-to-use tools that enhance productivity and simplify application management.
